Moving To The Future

Back to the Future 2 came out in 1989, a film that among other things colorfully portrays life in 2015. Companies across the world are starting to develop cool technology like the hoverboards and flying cars from the film, and some tech is even fully realized like video calling and wearable tech. Other predictions like everyone having three fax machines in every room… not so much.

Here at All My Sons, we’re always looking towards the future and with using new technology to better serve our customers. It’s why we like the movie, and it’s one of the main reasons we’ve quadrupled in size this past year, adding new departments to improve the customer experience and improve other aspects of the business. It’s how we’ve grown from a little mom and pop in a rough part of town to being the nationwide employee owned bastion that we are.

That rough beginning was amidst turmoil in the trucking industry during the eighties. Deregulation allowed for a tremendous number of new companies to emerge (including All My Sons), dramatically decreased commercial fuel consumption, and decreased the cost of everything moved by trucks… which is to say everything.

The question is, what would Back To The Future 2 have predicted about the moving industry if the McFlys decided to pack up and leave Hilldale? Perhaps there would be moving hover-trucks… Maybe robotic exoskeletons to help movers lift? While both ideas are really cool, neither advancement would really do that much to help. So, what’s actually happened in the last thirty five or so years?

As it turns out, a whole lot has. Unfortunately, the vast majority of moving companies have failed to invest in innovation. Here’s the problem: most moving companies focus on the logistics rather than the customer.

Why not take that impossibly long phone number and shrink it to something people can remember? Calling **MOVE gets you straight to All My Sons. Most of our other advancements are family secrets, but they’re just as profound and their effects can clearly be seen by those moving with us.
Our mantra is “Modern Moving With Old Fashioned Care,” and we really take it to heart. Let’s face it. It’s a new millenium. Any company that cares about their customers’ needs to think about technology. That’s where other moving companies are left in the dust. Good intentions mean nothing without a good work ethic.

Even so, the value of using technology for enhancing the customer experience has limits. In a decade or two, other moving companies may emulate some of the tools we’ve developed. What they won’t have is the great group of people we have that are passionately dedicated to their work. Our people are invested in the success of your move in a very literal sense. As an employee owned and operated company, our movers, managers, and support staff all own a piece of the company.

It’s helped us all develop a real passion for being the best here at All My Sons and we fully intend to keep pushing hard this year. Customers who haven’t moved with us before often ask what makes All My Sons different, but it’s obvious to everyone who moves with us. We’re constantly building for tomorrow while we push hard daily to make every move the best moving experience period.

Why do people settle for stone age movers driving twenty year old trucks that keep breaking down? Why do people settle for movers who only have one phone line that’s constantly tied up? When hiring a mover, why not instead go back to the future?

Your friend in the moving business is ready to go.
